I’m writing this in a hotel room in Germany. I’m away on business, but only for a couple of nights.
It’s surprising how long a couple of nights can seem though, if you are away from the person you love. Sure, we can text, phone, even Skype, but it’s not the same as actually being with that person.
Being with someone for me is something very profound, even spiritual. There’s a connectedness that’s hard to put into words. It’s what Person-Centred Counselling is based on. The formulation of a quality therapeutic relationship provides the conditions for growth and healing.
When you next spend quality time with someone, see them as the unique and supremely-valued Human Being that they are, and appreciate the depth of relationship that is possible.
